NIE
• This is the first documentation that you will require before purchasing a property. This is obtained from the local police
station.  The addresses of the Police stations are: (Your estate agent will assist with this)

RESIDENCIA.
If you decide to live permentantly in Spain you will require this document. You apply for this at the same place where 
you applied for your NIE (addresses above).  The forms that you will need are:
• 4 photos of each person
• 3 photocopies of the passport + the orginal
• 3 photocpies of the "empadronimiento" from your local town hall.
• 3 photocopies of the application form
• 3 photocopies of birth certificates of children (if applicable)
• Sight of original passport(s) and birth certificates of children (if applicable)

EMPADRONIMIENTO
This is obtained from your local ayuntamiento (town hall) and takes 2/3 days.  Some town halls require a small fee for this.
The forms that you will need are:
• 1 photocopy of the escritura (title deeds) or the copia simple of it.
• 1 photocopy of each passport (main page) +1 photocopy of the page where the children are on parents passport (if applicable)
• Sight of original passport(s)

Social Security Number
Tesoreria General de la Seguridad Social

The forms that you will need for this are:
• Photocopy of passport and original required,  NIE form photocopy and original. Complete their form.
Note - Pronto print is close by where the supplied card can be laminated and also a local papelleria to obtain an 
further photocopies if required.

New/Transfer telephone
Ring 1004 (free) - this is a voice activated service and you should say "quiero hablar con un operador en ingles"

Transfer of water bill
this is normally carried out by the local ayuntamiento where you (town hall) obtained your Empadronimento form  from

Transfer of electricity Bill
You will need to show the following documents -  copy of escritura, NIE numbe - telephone number required.
