The concept of the extreme sports car has been demonstrated by extraordinary models in Ferrari’s history. Some of the most recent models include the 288 GTO of 1984, the F40 of 1987 and the F50 of 1995. The common denominator in each case was not only the uniqueness of their performance but also the exclusiveness that came from being built in limited numbers.

It is in this spirit that the Enzo Ferrari was launched in 2002 as an outstanding expression of the concept of extreme sportiness. The car was developed for road use in 399 units only. Historia

La escudería Ferrari fue fundada en 1929 por Enzo Ferrari en Modena, con el objetivo de apoyar a los pilotos que formaban parte de la misma. El propio Enzo Ferrari había sido piloto con cierto éxito, y sin duda la experiencia adquirida durante esta etapa le resultó de gran ayuda. En 1939 comenzó la producción de vehículos destinados a la competición bajo la marca Auto Avio Construzioni, siendo el primer modelo el 815, con un motor de 8 cilindros y 1500 cc. 

En 1943 se traslada la factoría a unas nuevas instalaciones construidas en Maranello. La fábrica debe ser reconstruida en 1946, ya que había resultado seriamente dañada durante la guerra. Ese año supuso un importante cambio para la compañía, puesto que ya se utiliza el nombre de Ferrari como marca, y es al año siguiente cuando se produce el primer Ferrari, el 125 S , que monta un motor de 12 cilindros y 1500 cc. 

  Tras diversos cambios de nombre, no es hasta 1969 cuando se establece el nombre de Ferrari S.p.A como marca definitiva, de la que Fiat adquirió el 50% del capital, que más tarde aumentaría hasta el 90%, quedando el resto en manos de la familia Ferrari.  En 1991 Luca di Montezemolo asumió la presidencia de Ferrari. Montezemolo fué un cercano colaborador de Ferrari durante mucho tiempo y había ocupado cargos de gran importancia dentro de Ferrari y de la propia Fiat.
