Practice
Alexander Wurz, The Williams test driver, waited until his final lap of the day to set a 1:32.675 lap.  He had been fastest this morning and this was nearly one second quicker than Ferando Alonso (1:33.579) who had been consistently quick this afternoon.  Michael Schumacher (1:33.619) on home territory was less than a tenth of a second behind the World Champion ahead of a flying Dutchman Robert Doornbos (1:33.799) who outpaced another test driver Anthony Davidson (1:33.870) after a grassy moment on a late quick lap.  Ralf Schumacher (1:33.883) on his local circuit is still on a roll, his team mate Jarno Trulli being pit bound throughout the session. Jenson Button (1:33.920) seventh was ahead of another test driver Robert Kubica (1:33.991) and Giancarlo Fisichella (1:34.030) struggling for grip and 0.5s behind team-mate Alonso.  Rookie test driver Adrian Sutil (1:34.179) Midland completed his debut in fine style to complete the top ten drivers this afternoon.

Prodrive will be running Formula One's 12th team next season lead by David Richards who was responsible for the start up of BAR before being moved aside.

* Engine Change - drops 10 places on the grid

Michael Schumacher looked to be the man to beat this weekend but it was Fernando Alonso who seized pole position, his first of the season, when the Michael lost a little time on the middle sector on his best lap.  Prooving that Ferrari is on form and on the second row of the grid is Felipe Massa with fellow South American Rubens Barrichello, outqualifying team mate Jenson Button for the first time this session and one row behind with Kimi Raikkonen between the two Honda´s.  Jarno Trulli was seventh for Toyota ahead of a good performance from Jacques Villeneuve, who was the object of some words from Giancarlo Fisichella between the second and third qualifying sessions, the Italian having been held up by the Canadian. (blocking him and ruining his fastest lap by 0.7s (according to Renault's telemetry). Only the first three drivers set faster times in the last qualify session, their second session times being faster.  Fernando Alonso probably needs this pole position on this particular circuit as their could be a first corner incident tomorrow!  Franck Montagny has taken Ide´s seat in the Super Aguri Honda this weekend, the Japanese having been penalised for the incident with Christijan Albers at Imola tow weeks ago.
