Practice
This morning only 9 drivers practiced with the two Ferrari´s of Massa and Schumacher setting the top two times.  This afternoon it was the turn of test driver Anthony Davidson (1m16.533s) to set the fastest lap, but more than 0.7s slower than Ferrari's Felipe Massa this morning. Robert Doornbos (1m16.824s), rumoured to be replacing Christian Klien at Monaco in the Red Bull was an impressive second fastest, with Fernando Alonso (1m16.860s), the quickest racing driver was more than a second away from Massa's morning one-off flyer.  Another test driver took number four spot - Alexander Wurz (1m17.075s) with Klien the second fastest race driver at number five (1m17.086s).  Michael Schumacher (1m17.100s) backed of on his fastest lap so his time was not representative, and headed, Fisichella (1m17.291s). Button (1m17.414s). Barrichello (1m17.417s), separated by just 0.004s.,and Ralf Schumacher (1m17.506s) to fill the top ten places this afternoon.

Michael Schumacher could make it a hat trick this weekend and has indicated "It (the decision) could be very late," regarding as to whether to retire from F1.
"Ferrari is quite happy to wait until the end of the season.” European press this week indicate that Raikkonen is not as keen as he appears publicly to race in the same team as Schumacher.  Fernando Alonso is still confident despite Ferrari´s re-emergence. “I think we’re still the four teams which should fight for the victory in all grands prix."  Jenson Button does not expect to be able to match the Renault team for pace this weekend’s.  Jacques Villeneuve will have a 10 place penalty, the engine being damaged while the mechanics were packing up to leave the Nurburgring last Sunday.

* Engine Change - drops 10 places on the grid

Duel in the sun, Michael Schumacher looked very strong to take pole position here but the crowd wanted Fernando Alonso to take it and the Spanish driver pulled out two magic qualifying laps late to take it; Schumacher following him, but he just did not have it this afternoon.  Tomorrow might be a different story, but for Fernando here he does have the support of his team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella just one tenth behind.  Felipe Massa at one stage this afternoon looked as if he might out qualify his team mate, but eventually sits alongside, fourth fastest.  Rubens Barichello out qualified his team mate Jenson Button, the two Honda Racing drivers separated by the two Toyotas of Ralf Schumacher and Jarno Trulli, putting in late fast laps. Kimi Raikkonen had a disappointinup will startg run this afternoon to finish ninth fastest, but obviously a little more happier than team mate Juan Pablo Montoya who probably believes the blame lies with the team.  Webber for the first time this session was not in the top ten, but Kiko Rosberg reckons that the Williams will be strong tomorrow.  David Coulthard was hoping for better thinks this afternoon, but had a big off on his run in lap.  Only the first two drivers set faster times in the 3rd session than they had in the second.  Jacque Villenueve, who normally qualifies higher up will be starting from the back of the grid due to his engine change, so this should provide some excitement tomorrow.  Of course the crowd were jubiliant and it looks as if their will be a 130,000 crowd tomorrow. Anyone want to bet on Michael
Schumacher beating Fernando Alonso tomorrow?

131,200 spectators packed into the circuit to see if there would be the first Spanish Winner to a Spanish Grand Prix.  Fernando Alonso drove a faultless race
to take a richly deserved win, the money possibly being on Ferrari, as the Renault was estimated to be giving away 10 km/hr on the pit straight.  Schumacher managed to leapfrog Giancarlo Fiscichella in the first pit stop, but could not make up the necessary time after Fernando´s second pit stop.  Kimi Raikkonen
made a brilliant start slicing between the two Toyotas, but towards the end was being caught by Jenson Button, who might have overtaken him, despite Barcelona being a difficult circuit to overtake on, but he had been held up by team mate Rubens Barichello during the first part of the race.
